Ray Carvey, Executive Vice President
Ray Carvey joined the company in January, 1995 as Chief Financial Officer. He was promoted to Vice President of Finance in July, 1995 and then to Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer in 1999. In 2002 he was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Today, Carvey is the Executive Vice President of Corporate Learning and International. He is responsible for expanding the reach and overall strategic direction and impact of Harvard Business Publishing’s Corporate Learning business and for the company’s Global Strategy.

Prior to joining Harvard Business Publishing, Carvey was Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer of Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries, Inc., Chief Financial Officer of Blyth Software, Corporate Treasurer of Ingres Corporation. He also worked at Charles Schwab and Company and DiGiorgio Corporation. Carvey earned his undergraduate degree and his MBA at Boston College.

Ian Fanton, Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing
Ian Fanton is the Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing, for Corporate Learning at Harvard Business Publishing. Fanton is responsible for expanding the global reach and impact of Harvard Business Publishing’s corporate learning business, a core growth market for the company. Addressing specific business needs of its clients, Harvard Business Publishing’s market-leading portfolio of offerings connect and cascade leadership development throughout an organization and are grounded in HBP’s unique points of view drawn from both expert research and in the best practices of its numerous global clients.

Fanton joined Harvard Business Publishing at its inception in 1992, and has helped to make the organization a dominant player in the corporate learning space. With more than 20 years’ experience in the corporate learning and education market, he works directly with enterprise organizations in a broad range of industries on their most strategic talent and business initiatives.

Fanton currently leads the global sales, marketing, and learning services organizations and also oversees key business initiatives such as market segmentation and client needs analysis, messaging and marketing programs. He has extended the reach of Harvard Business Publishing’s leadership development solutions through direct client relationships and more than 25 strategic partnerships. Under his direction, corporate learning offerings are now reaching clients in more than 26 countries.

Previously, Fanton led the international strategy for all of Harvard Business Publishing’s markets and played a key role in establishing operations in emerging markets such as India and China.

Prior to joining Harvard Business Publishing, Fanton worked in Executive/Corporate Education for Boston University. He has also held sales and marketing positions with Linkage, Inc. and The Boston Red Sox. Fanton holds an MBA from Boston University’s School of Management.

Nick Clayton, Senior Director, Global Sales
Nick has more than 25 years of experience in organization development consulting, learning process design and implementation, and strategic sales leadership. He is currently responsible for defining and executing the global sales strategy for the Corporate Leaning market at Harvard Business Publishing. He is responsible for driving growth through direct sales, channel management, and strategic alliances.

He has spent his career dedicated to helping organizations improve their performance through learning and performance improvement interventions. Prior to joining Harvard Business Publishing, he held global sales leadership responsibility at the Forum Corporation, and led the Sales and Marketing function at Interaction Associates. He also managed his own consulting firm, helping mid-sized companies develop competitive advantage through focused sales strategies. He has consulted with many global clients to help develop leaders, creating growth strategies, and build customer loyalty.

He holds degrees from California State University in Communications and Instructional Technology, and a Master’s of Science in Organizational Development from Pepperdine University.

Josh Brand, Director of Network Learning
Josh leads Harvard Business Publishing Leadership Direct business. In this role, Josh leads the delivery of cohort-based, virtual in-company management education programs to HBP’s clients around the globe. Josh works with our Leadership Direct clients to design and implement world-class education programs. Josh is also responsible for recruiting faculty and moderators to deliver our Leadership Direct programs.

Josh has over 15 years of executive education and management consulting experience. He has built innovative management education programs for the Government of Scotland, the National Automobile Dealers Association, as well as companies in North America, Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Harvard Business Publishing in 2010, Josh co-founded the Executive Education firm Freemont Learning and spent six years as Senior Director of Executive Education at Babson College. Josh also was on the leadership team at Mainspring, a strategy consulting firm acquired by IBM Global Services.

Josh earned his MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and is an adjunct professor at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.

JF Goldstyn, Director, Corporate Learning Services
JF Goldstyn is actively involved in and responsible for the implementation of Harvard Business Publishing's premier online learning and management development content. Over the past twelve years he has driven the implementation, customization and integration of leadership and management content from CD-ROM, Intranet and Internet online learning modules into the development curriculums of multinational organizations. JF manages the learning services team of global learning consultants and also manages several key accounts delivering strategic consulting and facilitation services. He is also responsible for Global services support working with consultants and distribution channels. JF has accumulated 20+ years experience in the education industry, beginning his career as a foreign language and business soft skills instructor in France and Germany in the late 1980s to leading leadership workshops both online and face-to-face.

Prior to Joining HBP he worked as a graduate assistant for a core management course in an undergraduate program at the SFSU School of Business. In addition to working at the Institute for Management Studies, he also spent four years in technical sales and implementation for an IBM Business Partner in Menlo Park, California.

Sherry Heffner, Director, Design Studio
Sherry is responsible for expanding Harvard Business Publishing's portfolio of leadership development offerings and strengthening its impact for organizations worldwide. Her background in learning and development spans twelve years, with a specialized focus on designing technology-enabled leadership development solutions.

Before joining Harvard Business Publishing, she served as Senior Vice President for the Solutions Group at Vitesse Learning, where she was responsible for the performance consulting, solution architecture, and product management. She initially served as Director of Instructional Design where she pioneered the design team, methodology, and practices. Prior to Vitesse, Sherry designed multimedia-based leadership programs at The Ninth House Network.

Her entry into the instructional design field began with Accenture’s Change Management practice where she gained expertise in designing interactive learning simulations for global organizations such as GE, DuPont, Corning, Johnson & Johnson, and others. Sherry is an active member of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), the New England eLearning Association (NELA), and the Babson College Women in Business Mentoring program. She holds degrees from Penn State in Marketing and Advertising, and earned additional formal training from Northwestern University’s Institute for Learning Sciences.
